The “Energy Boost” grant proposal was submitted to and accepted by the Clean Coal Review Board on April 22, 2015. Four objectives lay the groundwork for a number of programs and an upgraded facility, which together will 1) establish and sustain critical mass for a new interdisciplinary academic unit for energy, and 2) provide a mechanism for long-term financial sustainability of the programs established herein.  The $4.6 million project will run over four years starting July 1, 2015, and will be administered from a home base of SIU’s Advanced Coal and Energy Research Center (ACERC). The figure below provides a synopsis of Energy Boost objectives and tasks.
